My name is Paulette, and I’m a scrapaholic. In 2003, I finally dove into the hobby after years of coaxing from friends and family. I knew I’d love it. Maybe that’s why I refrained from going to a crop for so long. As I suspected, many other things I love have taken a back seat to scrapping since I was bitten by the bug.
I especially enjoy cropping with friends while listening to music. It freaks me out for a beverage to be anywhere close to a scrapping work space. Printing my own photos is preferable to trusting someone else with the job (yep… serious control issues). Taking pictures is an obsession of mine. I literally take pictures of just about everything! You hardly ever see Paulette without a camera.
Shopping for supplies is as much fun to me as actually using the goodies I’ve purchased. Planning these retreats and shopping for YOUis even more fun! I have always been rather compulsive about details. If I am a little (or a lot) high strung at a retreat it’s because I want everything to go perfectly. Yes, I know that’s impossible; but a girl can have any hang up she chooses, right?
I love my family and friends and I love to laugh. I even love to laugh at my family and friends. They say, “Laughter is the best medicine.” Well, I believe there are very few times in life when humor is inappropriate. Even though I’ve had my fair share of grief in this lifetime, I still find joy and amusement in some of the smallest things and most unlikely places.
My husband and I have been married for eighteen years (he says, “eighteen LONG years”). I agree some days; other days I think he’s “close enough to perfect for me.” We never had any children of our own, but we have cats who we love dearly and consider them to be our children. We also have four nieces, four nephews, one grandnephew, and two baby grandnieces.
Besides scrapbook related hobbies, I also LOVE gardening, decorating, camping, watching my favorite TV shows (don’t even think of calling me when American Idol is on because we'll be screening calls). Catch me after the show’s over; we’re night owls… we’ll be up. I am ALL ABOUT reading a good book - and every night, no matter how tired I am; I will read until I can’t keep my eyes open. I also like to entertain and plan parties. Sleepovers, even at this age can be such a blast. Having at least one of those a year is one of my greatest pleasures.
In 2003, I became an Etowah County Master Gardener. Some of my dearest friends were met through that association. I have neglected my garden for a couple of years now due to a shoulder injury. But, I am NUTS about hybrid hostas and I had over 150 varieties prior to the inattention of my once prized shade garden.
Another group of phenomenal friends I have is the Big Wills Valley Homemakers Club I joined several years ago. Meeting with those ladies and doing community service together is very rewarding to me. We do quite a few projects which help the area schools and other charitable organizations.
I, my best friend, Phronsa, and our incredible friend, Karen hope to continue to host one of the most exciting events a scrapbooker can attend. Our desire is to get better and better each year and provide each lady who joins us with many precious memories of a forever treasured weekend. We look forward to serving you and making you feel as SPECIAL as you truly ARE!
Besides stamping, making gorgeous hand made cards, and many 3-D items, Jan enjoys gardening, reading, and playing on the computer. She still considers herself to be a novice cropper,...
