My life has been richly blessed. I am a wife, proud mother of two, and a doting nana of two. I’m also fortunate to have many special, caring friends. During the week, I stay quite busy as secretary in the business my wonderful husband and I started just seven years ago. Blessings have been showered upon us in our professional lives as well.
My daughter, Jennifer introduced me to scrapbooking about nine years ago and I immediately became addicted. I must admit to also being a paperaholic as well as a scrapaholic. Collecting beautiful paper is a true passion of mine. I absolutely love all of those gorgeous papers that we scrappers have to choose from. I enjoy playing with my collection of Ellison die cuts and I am learning to use my Cricut, too.
One night a week I look forward to meeting with fellow croppers to socialize, share ideas, learn new techniques, and experiment with different ways to embellish my page layouts. Sometimes when I get “scrappers block”, a fellow cropper will offer a suggestion that helps me over the hump.
I enjoy attending card making classes to get ideas and instruction on creating eye catching greeting cards. My cards are not the greatest, but I love sending hand made cards to family and friends. Of course, receiving them is special, too because I know the sender put a part of themselves into the creation of the card. That makes them even more meaningful.
I am fortunate to have a scrapbook room where I can leave my unfinished work laying “as is” until I can get back to finish it later. For special occasions, my son has been buying me Accessorizer Cubes by Store in Style. I have accumulated several to organize my supplies and toys. He also purchased the Cricut for me as a Christmas gift. So, I am now collecting cartridges for that.
Over the years I have enjoyed numerous crafts from simple to complex. Some of the many hobbies I have found pleasure in are crocheting, plastic canvas art, quilting, and now scrapbooking, stamping, and card making. I’ve tried my hand at quilling, too; but I need lots more practice to get the hang of it. Reading is another favorite pastime of mine.
This is the second year I am officially a co-organizer of the Notorious Scrapaholics Retreat and it is an honor to work with Paulette and Phronsa. They are very committed to making the retreat extra special for all of us ladies each year and they strive to make improvements with every event. They do an awesome job and really put their hearts and souls into the planning. I truly appreciate being asked to join them.
Rheba Long, Creative Memories Consultant
Rheba has been a Creative Memories consultant for five years and was one of the original three organizers of Notorious Scrapaholics retreats. As a charter "queen", she graciously allowed all payments to be sent to her home address for the first two years, gave up storage space in her crop room for our retreat merchandise, and donated countless CM items for the attendee goodie boxes and several door prizes. Some of our nicest and most valuable gifts were her beautiful Creative Memories baskets which she contributed. These included a 12x12 CM album and wonderful coordinating items. Rheba has a gift of being able to arrange and create beautiful baskets and she has been so helpful in doing all of our door prize baskets and gift baskets for the retreats.
